Beginning fiscal year 1999, the Air National Guard possessed 360 F-16 aircraft in 24 separate flying units. That same year the Air Guard deployed 131 different F-16 units with a total of 13,214 personnel on worldwide training missions, exercises and contingencies. Over 820 Air Guard F-16s flew sorties in support of these actions during the year. In celebration of the Air National Guard F-16 force, this photographic volume has finally been produced as a labor of love from the many Air Guard units partecipating in its production.
Mr. Giampaolo Agostinelli presents in this volume his photographs of Air National Guard F-16s from eleven different flying squadrons. I am sure that you will agree that he is one of the foremost aerial photographers in the world. My friend and colleague "Giampy" has not only perfected the art of aviation action photography but knows the difficulties and intricacies of flying fighters. What we say in the Air Guard is that he is a "High-Speed-Low-Drag" flying photographer who brings this exciting flying action to you as if you too were in the cockpit.
