From passion
to friendship

Giampaolo Agostinelli

Born in Cittadella on June 3, 1964, has been living since in Veneto, in Rossano and Padua.

In 1993 he started a career in which he was able to exploit his greatest passions, flying and photography.

His love for flight began when, in his early teens, he used to go by bike to Istrana and Treviso air bases to watch Italian Air Force F-104s and G.91s taking off and landing.

He started taking pictures from the ground, visiting IAF air bases. Then he was admitted to air-to-air experiences, starting with Italian Air Force and then with other European air forces such as the Royal Air Force, the French Armée de l'Air and the Spanish Ejército del Aire.

In January, 1995, he started a collaboration with VOLARE, an Editoriale Domus Publishing aeronautical magazine. This opened his scopes and in 1996 he decided to start his own American Adventure.

He was fascinated by the U.S.A. and its main Air Forces, which utilize the most advanced aircraft in the world. He started a professional and human relationship with the Air National Guard, then with the USAF and the Naval Aviation, of the US Navy.

His experiences, his photo missions in different fighter aircraft and his newer and newer human experiences led him to sign his first photo book. Printed in December, 2000, it deals with the many missions of the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon (The Viper for its pilots) and thus titled "Vipers in The Sky".

In the latest two years, his experience with the Naval Aviation of the US Navy generated his second book: "Where Sea Meets The Sky.

Presently, Giampaolo Agostinelli is a world-renown aviation photographer. He collaborates with VOLARE in Italy and with AICRAFT ILLUSTRATED in the United Kingdom. His pictures appear in Lockheed Martin's CODE ONE, in the two US Navy reviews THE HOOK, CARIER AVIATION and WINGS OF GOLD. You will see his pictures in the USA also in COMBAT ATRCRAFT and in AMERICAN DEFENDER, the USAF review for Air Defence.
